The 5th Annual Patient Adherence and Engagement Summit which was held last week in Philadelphia was another successful and informative conference. During the first session, attendees heard from Gail Cakwell from Purdue Pharma, Paul Gileno from US Pain Foundation, and Matt Norton from S3 Connected Health who discussed insights on how to develop a strategic adherence framework. Day one concluded with Kerri Petrin from RxAnte (who sponsored the event) who explained managing medication sensitive conditions using predictive analytics to improve medication use and reduce cost of care. Day two had ten enlightening sessions. Greg Burke from Geisinger Health System, Todd Hobbs from Novo Nordisk, and Richard Murray from Merck addressed practices to build patient-centric solutions that improve health outcomes. Members learned how to coordinate with ACO’s and IDN’s for integrated medication therapy management from Aetna’s Edmund Pezalla and Lumiradx’s Alan Gilbert. There were roughly five exhibitors such as Surescripts, creating a more connected and collaborated healthcare system and Tinylogistics, developing “smart” pillboxes.
